    The case

Politeia Bookstore, with a history of over 45 years and more than 380,000 titles, is a point of reference for books in Greece. The challenge for Sleed was not simply to refresh an e-shop, but to digitally translate the experience of the physical bookstore: browsing, discovery, and the relationship with the reader. politeianet.gr was redesigned from scratch to function not only as a commercial channel, but as a living digital world of books — fast, accessible, and human.

Goal: to bring the physical bookstore experience into the digital realm, without losing Politeia’s identity.

    The Challenge

The scale of the project was decisive. A platform with millions of visits, a huge volume of data, and 1.5+ million URLs had to transition to a new architecture without losses in SEO, performance, or commercial momentum. The previous site had reached a critical point of maturity.

The objective was a complete redesign that would comprehensively upgrade the user experience, strengthen trust, and create measurable business value — without losing Politeia’s identity.

    Our Approach

Sleed’s strategy was built on a data-driven, user-first philosophy. We started with UX research and user behavior analysis, mapping how people search for books, authors, and topics. A new information architecture and navigation experience were designed, with clear improvements in search, checkout, and content.

    What we delivered

    • Advanced ElasticSearch, filters, and tailored recommendations for each user.
    • Redesigned cart & checkout with fewer steps and guest checkout capability.
    • Rich product pages with reviews, availability, and transparent order updates.
    • Modular CMS for faster management of thousands of titles.

    Technical implementation & SEO

On a technical level, development followed a performance-first approach, with code splitting, lazy loading, and next-gen images, achieving top Core Web Vitals. At the same time, a complete SEO migration strategy was implemented, ensuring a smooth transition without losses in organic traffic.

    What did we achieve?

The new politeianet.gr achieved measurable improvement across every critical performance metric. The redesigned experience led to higher conversion, less friction in the funnel, and more engaged users, especially in a mobile environment. The result is a modern e-Commerce ecosystem that combines technology, speed, and culture.

This strategic approach was recognized with a SILVER award in the Redesign – Relaunch in e-Commerce category, confirming that when UX, performance, and brand DNA work as one, e-Commerce can become an experience.
