The case

Having established itself among the top travel, accommodation search, and booking websites in Greece, Ekdromi.gr features the most competitive offers and attractive hotel packages throughout the country. The company has experienced remarkable growth and has received numerous honorary distinctions, which empower it to compete on equal terms with globally established players of the Tourism industry, claiming a big share in an extremely interesting, popular, and competitive market such as Greece.

The challenge

Ekdromi.gr set a challenging goal for increasing sales and its market share, during a period of rising costs and inflation.

Experiences, entertainment and other non-essential products and services – which certainly include travel and holidays – tend to stay on hold during times when a quite big percentage of a country’s population is in financial distress. At the same time, the tourism and travel industry have been readjusted in recent years. Accommodation preferences are completely different, more spontaneous and less hotel-oriented than a decade before. This differentiation is still ongoing, and is linked to factors that are not necessarily economic. It’s a fact though that hotel accommodation searches have declined by 7%-10% according to Google Trends.

Our approach

We developed a holistic strategy alongside Ekdromi.gr, focusing on enhancing sales, growing the user base and website traffic, while also aiming to optimize the performance of non-paid channels.

A critical aspect we highlighted in the strategy is the comprehensive promotion and communication of the company’s Unique Selling Proposition (USP), which is the super competitive discounts and highly appealing package offers. Special emphasis was also placed on crafting effective, differentiated promotional strategies during peak periods, such as Christmas, Easter and summer, to achieve a significant revenue increase.

To maximize commercial benefits, particularly during high-demand periods, we made profitability forecasts for various ROAS scales. Smart tools were utilized to enhance the efficiency of advertisements across platforms, while various procedural stages were automated, thereby maximizing ad performance by directly correlating content with hotel availability. The targeted improvements resulted in a notable increase in conversions on the website.

The outcomes

 Our joint efforts led to notable results, with a 57% increase in Social Media ad revenue and a 15% uplift in Google Ads revenue appearing in non-branded searches. Site traffic also increased by 28%, demonstrating the effectiveness of our strategy to address the challenges arising due to market conditions. The adoption of smart sales-targeted campaigns and the strategic hotel and area selections included in the company’s advertising plan had a noteworthy contribution to the improved figures. Our partnership resulted in optimal turnover levels, highlighting the promising future of Ekdromi.gr in the Greek travel industry, which is one of the broadest and most profitable investment sectors in our country.
